History of Morva
The Morva region was mentioned in books as early as the late 16th century. It is said that the word Morva is apparently from Sámi language and means a wooded area and a hunting lodge. Morva got its name after the Morva region. The current Countryside Hotel Morva belongs to the Jaakkola estate, which was split from Huusko farm into its own farm in 1891.
Present host of Huusko floated logs from Vekkula to Päijänne. He had a Mylly sawmill and a log flume at the Myllyjärvi River. He wanted to relocate the log flume. A suitable place was found on the Harhala dike, where the men dug a new spot for the log flume. The bank was narrow and easy to dig. Unfortunately, the bank was…
