The Morva region was mentioned in books and covers as early as the late 16th century. It is said that the word Morva is apparently from Sámi language and means a wooded area and a hunting lodge. Morva got its name after the Morva region. The current Countryside Hotel Morva belongs to the Jaakkola estate, which was split from Huusko farm into its own farm in 1891.
Present host of Huusko floated logs from Vekkula to Päijänne. He had a Mylly sawmill and a log flume at the Myllyjärvi River. He wanted to relocate the log flume. A suitable place was found on the Harhala dike, where the men dug a new spot for the log flume. The bank was narrow and easy to dig. Unfortunately, the bank was fine sand and the terrain behind the dike fell rapidly. The ditch excavated during the previous summer burst in the following spring and the surface of Lake Myllyjärvi fell over 2 meters in two days. By the new ditch was the blacksmith’s workshop. The current washed away the workshop so fast that the blacksmith could not save anything from his workshop. It was feared that the current would also take Harhala’s house. Thanks to the tattered and diligent villagers, the stream was guided further away from the house and the house was saved. The old mill and sawmill remained idle due to lack of water.
As a aftermath of the catastrophe, Juho Huusko was forced to sell his property in 1879 to pay for the claimed damages. In 1891, Jonas Aleksi Färlin (grandfather of the current host Leo Värelä) was transferred part of the Huusko Farm. At about the same time, a new mill and slug were built on the Harhala rapids. In addition to managing the estate, Jonas Aleksi Färlin was the founder of the Jämsä Fire Insurance Association and the steward of the church. He owned a leather and mixed goods store in downtown Jämsä.
When Juho Huusko had to sell his house, all the crofters were first asked to leave and the rest was bought by J.A Färlin. Jonas Aleksi Färlin died in 1926.
In 1938 the children of Färlin changed their surname to Värelä. At about the same time each of the siblings were given their own piece of land. Huusko’s main farm was divided evenly between the brothers. Jaakko renamed his farm to Jaakkola and Viljo stayed to take care of Huusko farm.
Jaakko built the barn as his first building in 1938-1939. Other farm buildings were built after the war. First to move into the barn were Karelian evacuation cows, which inhabited the barn until 1945. Jaakko’s wife, Alma, left her job in bank and moved from Satakunta to Jämsä in 1946 and the mutual farm life began. They had four children: Iiris, Leo, Risto and Alli.
The main livelihood of the Jaakkola farm was forestry and agriculture. The barn was full of dairy cows. Jaakko did a lot of other work too. Utilizing a metal and wood workshop and a circular saw at Huusko Farm. Jaak had the intention to build his own power plant on the Harhala rapids, but the project fell after a neighboring host’s resistance.
When Jaakko died at a very young age of only 42 (in 1952), Alma Värelä had to take responsibility for taking care of the farm and raising the children. The farmhand Yrjö Koivuniemi and maid Iida Pitkänen, helped at the farm. Yrjö worked until 1965, when he retired. Yrjö had already started work on the Huusko farm in the 1930s. Iida was involved in agriculture until 1962.
The farm was acquired by Leo Värelä in 1976. Leo and Päivi started maintaining the farm together in the same year. At that time there were about 50 cows in the barn. The main activity of the farm was agriculture and forestry. They had three daughters: Virpi, Teija and Kaisa. Dairy cows had to be abandoned due to a hostess’ allergy in 1997. The barn got a whole new life as a guesthouse in 1998, when the farm’s tourism business began. Later, in 2020, the Majatalo Morva was renamed into the Countryside Hotel Morva. Life on the farm continues, now in the fourth generation.

Yksityistilaisuuksien varausmaksu on tilaisuuden koosta riippuen 300 € tai 500 €.
Sesonkiajoilta perimme varausmaksun etukäteen, sovitettavissa.
Peruutusmaksuna perimme 50 % varauksen kokonaishinnasta, mikäli peruutus tapahtuu alle 7 vrk ennen varatun majoituksen alkamisajankohtaa.
Tilaisuuksien peruutusmaksu; peruutusmaksuna perimme 50 % varauksen kokonaishinnasta, mikäli peruutus tapahtuu alle 14 vrk ennen varatun tilaisuuden alkamisajankohtaa. Alle 7 vrk, perimme 100 % maksun.
Pidätämme oikeuden hinnanmuutoksiin.
Peruutuksesta on aina ilmoitettava viipymättä Maalaishotelli Morvalle. Sairastumisesta on esitettävä todistus. Peruutuksen sattuessa varausmaksua ei palauteta.
Majoituskohde on käytettävissä tulopäivänä klo 15 alkaen ja se on luovutettava lähtöpäivänä klo 12 mennessä. Lähtöpäivänä voimme myös neuvotella pidemmän luovutusajan. Majoittuessasi mökissä saat avaimen Maalaishotelli Morvan päärakennuksesta, minne se tulee myös lähtiessä palauttaa. Jos avain katoaa, peritään lukon vaihtamisesta aiheutuneet todelliset kustannukset.
Mikäli majoitut mökissä, olet vastuussa sen siivoamisesta. Voit tilata siivouksen ennakkoon varauksen yhteydessä, jolloin hinta on 90 €/mökki. Majoittujan on huolehdittava seuraavista asioista ennen mökin luovuttamista: roskien vienti, lattioiden imurointi ja tarvittaessa pesu, astioiden puhdistus, tahrojen ja likojen poisto, tavaroiden paikoilleen vienti ja vuoteiden petaus. Vaikka loppusiivous onkin tilattu, edellytetään mökin kunnon olevan normaalin asumisen jäljiltä. Jos siivousta ei ole tilattu ennakkoon, ja joudumme siivoamaan mökin puolestasi, veloitamme erillisen siivousmaksun 100 €/mökki.
Asiakas on vastuussa majoituskohteen irtaimistosta vuokrausaikana. Asiakas on velvollinen ilmoittamaan irtaimistolle aiheuttamistaan vahingoista välittömästi ja korvaamaan ne Maalaishotelli Morvalle. Tupakointi on kielletty mökkien sisätiloissa.
Majoitukseen hintaan kuuluu aina liinavaatteet ja pyyhkeet.
Mökin hintaan sisältyy polttopuut.
Maalaishotellissa on yksi omalla sisäänkäynnillä varustettu perhehuone, jonne myös lemmikit ovat tervetulleita lisämaksusta. Maalaishotellin muihin huoneisiin ja kumpaankaan mökkiin ei saa viedä lemmikkieläimiä lainkaan.
Kaikki varaukseen tai mökin kuntoon liittyvät huomautukset tulee osoittaa välittömästi Maalaishotelli Morvan henkilökunnalle.
